Union Baptist Church

Our History

Union Baptist Church has faithfully served the communities of Clinton and Howard Counties for generations. Founded by a small group of dedicated believers, the church has grown from humble beginnings into a vibrant congregation committed to preaching the Gospel, nurturing faith, and serving the community.

Through times of growth, renewal, and challenges, Union Baptist Church has remained rooted in Christ-centered worship and biblical truth, standing as a living testament to God’s faithfulness across generations.

Moments Through the Years

1851: Middlefork of Wildcat Baptist Church established.

1861: Renamed Middlefork Regular Baptist Church.

1871: Dedication of new church house.

1880: Church bell purchased and belfry erected.

1881: Organ purchased for worship.

1882: Graveyard Committee assigned to care for cemetery.

1885: First recorded missionary meeting at the church.

1906: First election of church and Sunday School officers.

1908: First Homecoming service held.

1936: Church officially renamed Union Baptist Church.

1937: Basement added beneath the church building.

1948: Baptistery installed.

1960: Groundbreaking and completion of the parsonage.

1965: Church destroyed by a tornado.

1966: First services held in the rebuilt church building.
